Hi, I'm Yan. Here's My Story.
Originally from China, I moved to the U.S. in 2006 and discovered my love for design. I earned my MFA in Visual Communication/Graphic Design from West Virginia University in 2012, and since then, I’ve built a career that bridges creativity, strategy, and empathy.
My journey began in the packaging industry as a graphic designer, where I learned the power of visual storytelling. I later transitioned into UX at Fragomen Worldwide, designing tools that streamlined the immigration process for foreign nationals, clients, and caseworkers.
Today, I’m a Product Designer at Dick’s Sporting Goods, leading design for the Product Detail Page (PDP) team. I focus on improving the athlete shopping experience, increasing conversions, and reducing returns. My work has contributed to over $100M in incremental sales through strategic UI redesigns and data-informed design decisions. I collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to align user needs with business goals and shape product vision.
I’m driven by curiosity, collaboration, and a desire to create meaningful solutions that make a difference. Whether it’s simplifying complex workflows or elevating eCommerce experiences, I strive to design with purpose and impact.
